Fancy Numbers

“My Trace colleague Jennifer Mascia pulled some numbers from the Small Arms Survey, which gauges gun stockpiles in the hands of civilians, law enforcement, and militaries around the world,” The Trace’s email blaster writes. “She found that with an estimated 270 million firearms owned by everyday Americans, civilians own 70 times more weapons than all police and military services combined.” (…)

Pretty shiny, huh?

You might be inclined to celebrate this, especially given that the The Trace is an anti-gun site, and having the gungrabbers admit that fact sure sounds like good news. Fortunately, you have your hostile, standoffish local curmudgeon to throw some cold water on you.

Just how many of those guns will likely be used should the need arises? Or perhaps more to the point, how many of these firearms will be deployed early enough to stop organized tyranny before thousands die? My take? The ones who recognize that the balloon is truly going up will not only die, but will also have their graves pissed on as well.
